Webcomic Catch-Up Update December 2017

OK, I've had to re-work my webcomic catch up.  I don't remember whether I mentioned it here or not, but I realized that this is the only way to make this practical.  Basically, every day, I'll read my caught-up comics, no matter what.  I know that I'll only occasionally be able to work my way through an archive, but I don't want to fall behind on whatever I've already done.  This should also be nice for me, since I miss the old days, when I read my webcomics daily.

I'm caught up on the following webcomics:
  • Unspeakable Vault of Doom
  • xkcd
  • Little Vampires
  • Maq #041
I've also moved Picatrix from active to hiatused, since it seems to have disappeared.  I've done the same for Real Life Comics, since it hasn't updated in over 2 years.
The next one in queue is Legostar Galactica, which is going to be rough, since it updated almost daily when I was reading it.

Webcomic Catch-Up Update: February 2017

I have done 0 webcomic reading this month.  February kind of flew by.  Also, Legostar Galactica is the next one on my catch-up list, and it's been posting 7 days per week for the last 4 years, so that's a lot of reading to do.  Thankfully, though, tomorrow is Wednesday, and I'm considering making Wednesdays be Webcomic Wednesdays for now, as a way to hasten my catching-up.  We'll see how it goes tomorrow.

Life Update January 2017

Well, I already forgot to post by the 14th.  I remembered right afterward, which was a bit too late, but I'll still try to remember going forward.  February shouldn't be a problem, though, since I'm planning to post on my Minecraft blog soon.  I've also got some books queued up, but February isn't looking like a good month to get started.  I'll see.

Webcomic Catch-Up Update: January 2017

The Maq#041 archive was actually not a long read, but sadly the comic seems to have stopped updating in November of 2015.  I've just started the Legostar Galactica catch-up, which will be tough, since it updated 7 days per week and I'm assuming that it kept up the pace over the past 3 years.  I'll be lucky to be all the way through it by the end of February.

The Great Webcomic Catch-Up: December 2016 Update

So, I made basically 0 progress on the Maq#041 archive, meaning that I've made basically 0 progress on the great webcomic catch-up this month.  That's not entirely surprising, given how the month's gone.
I'm also considering re-working how I'm scheduling the catch-up.  I'm considering staying caught up with those comics that I've done already, and then treating the rest the way that I did whenever I add a webcomic to the list:  Read the archive (though, in this case, not the full archive), then include it in my daily checks.  I'm not sure yet, though.  I'll let you all know.

Life Update December 2016

So, life's been pretty crazy in December, which is pretty normal, given the holidays involved.  I can hardly believe that it's the 31st already, but I'm still going to hammer out the other posts tonight.  I've also got a couple of short story notes floating around somewhere, so I should be able to give some sudden short stories in January.  Here's hoping for a better 2017.

Life Update November 2016

So, here's the short version of how things went.  Basically, the bad stuff from September & October pushed back some important stuff to November, so all of this month has been catch-up in real life.  And, unfortunately, December is coming in less than an hour, which means that, after I finish catching up on real-life stuff, I've got to do Xmas stuff.  Per my other update, I'll also be pushing to catch up on webcomics.  Per an older update, I'll also try to write some extra posts in December to make up for shortages.  That's it for now, though.

Webcomic Catch-Up Update: November 2016

Once again, real life got in the way this month, though in a different way.  I managed to finish off the Real Life Comics archive, up to and including December 10th, 2015, which is the last known episode.  I'm working on catching up on my reading of Maq #041, but I don't even remember what was going on at all, so there's going to be some overlap again.
I'm definitely going to take a more thorough dive into the old webcomic pile in December and January.  I want to be able to finish catching up in February, or maybe March, so that I can then do a new catch-up right after that and then finally get to the point where I just read the webcomics every night - and actually remember what's going on in the ones where that's relevant.  That, after all, is the overall goal of this:  to get back to the point where I've got the routine relaxation every night of reading my webcomics.

Life Update October 2016

OK, I hate to be making a life update here, but here we go.  I'm looking ahead at November and December, and, while things look busy, nothing looks bad so far.  I expect to make 3 proper posts in November, and then make some extra posts in December, for the sake of my loyal reader.  :P  For the moment, though, I'm off to finish off my October in a Halloweenish way:  by watching It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown and going to bed to be ready for the next work day.

Webcomic Catch-Up Update: October 2016

I didn't do much webcomic catch-up this month, but I expected that, given a bunch of real life.  I'll try to do more catching up in the coming months, but that'll be harder with the upcoming holidays.

Little Vampires:  I caught up through October 28, 2016, "Happy Halloween from Portmonster".  Hooray!
Girls Don't Play Games:  I don't remember this one that well, but, when I checked on it earlier this month, the site was being revamped, so I couldn't access the archive, anyway.
Real Life Comics:  It looks like this one died in late 2015, but I haven't caught up with the archive yet, either.  I'm pretty sure that I'm re-treading some stuff, but I don't remember where exactly I left off; I'm caught up through January 31, 2013.

Life Update September 2016

I'm just going to be blunt here.  This month has sucked.  I've had some rather considerable problems in real life.  I'd rather not get into the details, but I'm not going to be making the posts that I expected this month.  Things are on track to get better, but I won't know for sure until early October.  I'll see if I can hammer out a third post tomorrow, but I make no promises.

Webcomic Catch-Up Update: September 2016

FYI, I've made some progress on catching up on webcomics.  I figure that I'll make these monthly reports, since I didn't get through many this month.  This will also be as much for my own reference as anything.  Here we go:

The Unspeakable Vault of Doom:  I caught up through vault 544.  Overall, the comic's OK.  It makes more sense as one comic of many that I read, and I think that it's the only comic dedicated to Lovecraftian humor that I had on my list.
The Book of Biff:  I caught up through the latest episode, which was some time in 2014.  I've moved it from active to hiatused.
xkcd:  I caught up through episode 1739:  Fixing Problems.  This comic has gotten better over the years, or maybe it's just accumulated more gems in its long run.

Little Vampires:  I only started catching up on this one.  I don't remember exactly where I left off on my previous catch-up, so I started at the beginning of the Welcome to Monsterdell arc.

I'll let you guys know how this goes next month.

Life Update - October 31st, 2015

So, life's been busy these last few months, as expected.  Nothing's any farther off track than it was before, but I haven't gained much ground, either.  I'm not expecting to get back to Minecraft before 2016, and the great webcomic catch-up is only becoming a bigger obstacle, but there's not much that I can do about that at the moment.  Oh well.

Also:  Happy Halloween!

Life Update - August 31st, 2015

OK, so, I keep forgetting to do Flash Fiction Friday.  Sorry about that.  Also, life's about to get even busier than it has been for the next 2 months, so I really don't know when I'll get back to anything from before.
I keep thinking that I'd like to finish what I was doing in Minecraft - which I'm sure is many more versions out of date by now - and there's so much more, too, like the great webcomic catch-up, but life's been so busy that I really don't know when any of this will land.  Hopefully, I'll be able to shake everything out and finally get things back to normal.

Update Update May 31st, 2015

Due to circumstances far, far, far beyond my control, I have to make this my 4th post in May, and I have to move the fifth and sixths posts to being in June, instead of in May.
I can't give much detail, unfortunately, but I am committed to getting those extra/make-up posts in as soon as possible.

Life Update May 2015

So, once again, I completely forgot about blogging for most of the month.  I remembered earlier this week, but I didn't get to it until now.  I did manage to remember, earlier in the month, while at work, to jot down some sudden short story notes, because they popped into my head, so I'll crank those out tonight.  I need to double-check, but I think that I have 4, which should cover 4 of the remaining 5 posts for this month.
I've also got a big thing happening this coming week.  I'll say more after it happens.

General Update August 2014

On the one hand, I'm glad that August had five weekends, since it meant that I got some much-needed unwinding time on the weekends.  On the other hand, August has absolutely sucked for me.  There was no one thing, really, but all of those little annoying things had to happen all at once.  I'm looking forward to unwinding a bit more.  Here's fun stuff that I'm hoping to do some time soon:
  • Beat the rest of Naxxramas on heroic.  (Hearthstone)
  • Play more Pokémon X & Pokémon Y before Omega Ruby & Alpha Sapphire drop in November.
  • Play more Mann vs. Machine:  Some time ago, TF2 added new maps & mechanics to their special Mann vs. Machine mode.  The main thing that holds me back from it is that playing a full round of MvM is like doing a dungeon in an MMO, & requires a fairly large chunk of uninterrupted me-time.
  • Get back into Minecraft, at least enough to further explore Thaumcraft.
  • Win a round of FTL on normal.
  • More DDO?
I'm also going to be spending a lot of time cleaning my room.  That's not a fun thing, but it's there.

General Update June 2013

Here's a general status update for my life at present:

  • Minecraft:  I still haven't been playing it much.  I'll get back into the swing of it soon enough, perhaps with the long weekend coming up.
  • Board Games:  more Sentinels of the Multiverse for me, for the most part
  • Tabletop RPGs:  I now have even fewer prospects for available RPG players.
  • Reading:  I've finished The King in Yellow, and am working on A Feast for Crows during lunch breaks.
  • Webcomics:  I'm still way behind.
  • Western Print Comics:  I really should contact the local comic shop & see if they're carrying Mouse Guard yet.  If nothing else, hearing about it might get them to do so.
  • Wesnoth:  I've got a hankering to play The Battle for Wesnoth again, so I've gone and gotten it again, this time for my gaming PC.
That's all for now.  Hopefully, more coherent updates will be coming shortly.

General Update May 2013

I figure that I should give you guys a general update on what's going on in my life.  Here's a quick rundown:
  • New Job:  I forget whether I've mentioned that I've got a (comparatively) new job.  I've also gotten past the initial trial period thingy.  Also, work's good.
  • Minecraft:  I haven't gotten around to playing Minecraft much in the past ... awhile.  I'm still liking Thaumcraft, though.
  • Board Games:  Sentinels of the Multiverse is quite fun!  Also other games, but there's already quite a lot of replay value in Sentinels.
  • Tabletop RPGs:  Where the frak is everybody?  I has no friends.  :(
  • Sleep:  What's that?
  • Reading:  working on The King in Yellow
  • Webcomics:  I've fallen way behind, and it's really really really hard to catch up.
  • Western Print Comics:  I might see if I can get my friendly local comic shop to start carrying Mouse Guard.
I was going to say more, but this bulleted list is actually pretty good for a quick rundown.
...
Maybe more details next time?
